ARLINGTON, Texas – February 19, 2024 – Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced new park enhancements for the 2024 season. One new ride, Sylvester and Tweety Pounce and Bounce, and one returning ride, Daffy DuckBucket Blasters, will be coming to the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park Memorial Day weekend. A retheming of the classic Chaparral Antique Cars into Dino Off Road Adventure will follow later in the summer.
ARLINGTON, Texas — February 15, 2023 — Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, announces the grand opening of one of the most highly anticipated new attractions of the year. The new AQUAMAN: Power Wave multi-launch water coaster at Six Flags Over Texas, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment, on behalf of DC, is the first of its kind in North America and opens to park guests on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
ARLINGTON, Texas — May 12, 2022 — Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, will open the highly anticipated, Pirates of Speelunker Cave, this Saturday, May 14. This family ride is a re-imagining of one of the park’s first attractions, The Cave, that operated from 1964 until 1991 and featured original characters called Speelunkers that were created exclusively for Six Flags Over Texas.
It’s about this time of year I start composing all sorts of lists of the places I’d like to visit. Plans are typically influenced by a variety of factors ranging from checking off things off a bucket list, to visiting old favorites all influenced by travel deals. One of the primary things that I look at is what are the new theme parks and attractions that are opening in the coming year. In this article, I go through that list with you.

Things certainly are not slowing down in 2020 in the theme park world. This year there is so much happening in the US alone, that we’ll split our preview into multiple articles leaving the rest of the world for later. In no particular order, here’s what we have to look forward to next year:
LEGOLAND New York
The US is getting a brand new theme park in 2020!. Planned to open on the 4th of July, LEGOLAND New York will be the third park of its kind in North America. The park will be built on the largest plot of land for a LEGOLAND park ever, leading to nearly endless possibilities for future expansion. At opening, the park will be anchored by the unique LEGO Factory Adventure trackless dark ride as well as familiar LEGOLAND staples including the Dragon coaster, Ninjago: The Ride, Driving and Boating Schools as well as our personal favorite: Miniland.
The Joker will be opening next year at Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Great America, and Six Flags New England.
This will make it 5 S&S 4-D coasters in the chain. Six Flags previously opened this type of ride in 2014 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and 2015 at Six Flags Great Adventure.
