Charlotte, N.C. (February 6, 2024)—Carowinds is gearing up to welcome guests for the 2024 operating season, starting on Saturday, March 9, with Opening Weekend. Every season brings fresh reasons to explore the park, and this year is no exception. Carowinds is set to offer a series of special seasonal events designed to delight the entire family.

The newly introduced Aeronautica Landing, an aviation-themed area, continues to provide an immersive experience tailored for adventurers of all ages. This area, named 10th on the “Best New Attraction 2023” by USA Today 10Best, boasts two dining options and six rides.

Carowinds has plans for growth and rockin’ investment during the summer, with more exciting announcements on the horizon.

50 Years of Carolina Fun Year-Round Celebration

Charlotte, N.C. (February 20, 2023)—From the international celebration of Grand Carnivale to the dazzling holiday light displays of WinterFest, there is always a reason to visit Carowinds every season. As the park celebrates “50 years of Carolina fun” in 2023, guests will find plenty of new rides and attractions, exciting entertainment, enhanced food and beverage offerings, a nighttime spectacular, and special seasonal events. Guests will always find something fun going on at Carowinds during year-round operation with a lineup of special seasonal events for everyone in the family.

New attractions and returning seasonal favorites will give Carowinds guests something special to experience nearly every week. At the center of the 50th anniversary celebration will be the all-new Aeronautica Landing, a tribute to the Carolinas’ spirit of invention, exploration, and aviation. This area introduces five new themed attractions as well as retheming an existing ride, for a total of six rides, opening in spring 2023.

Carowinds Expanding to Year Round Operations

Charlotte, N.C. (October 18, 2022)—Carowinds will not go into hibernation after the holidays. The nation’s only amusement park straddling two states will expand to year-round operations beginning January 1, 2023. The scheduling change introduces additional weekends to the calendar in January, February, and early March, with regular park operation continuing throughout the rest of the year.

The added winter operating days, in addition to the early season and spring break operations, will provide guests the opportunity to experience even more seasonal events and explore Carowinds across the entire year.

Guests will experience rides, subject to routine maintenance, seasonal refurbishments, and weather closures. Select Carowinds dining, merchandise locations and games will be open for guests to enjoy during the winter operating days.

SCarowinds to Debut All-New Paranormal Inc.

(September 8, 2022)—A familiar chill will be descending upon Carowinds, when SCarowinds returns this fall with all-new scares that will bring guests’ worst nightmares and unimaginable horrors to life. This year, guests will come face to face with their fears – and up to 300 monsters nightly – as they brave the park’s 16 tantalizing experiences, including seven spine-chilling scare zones, five mazes, and four ominous shows. SCarowinds returns for 19 terrifying nights from Friday, September 16 to Sunday, October 30.

Carowinds Announces Plans for 50th Anniversary Season in 2023

Charlotte, N.C. (August 11, 2022)—On March 31, 1973, Carowinds officially opened to 6,000 guests amid great fanfare. The grand opening marked the culmination of years of formulation, planning and development by founder E. Pat Hall, a Charlotte businessman. Built at an estimated cost of $70 million, Carowinds was named for a combination of the surrounding Carolinas and the winds that blew across the two states. The park included original attractions such as Carolina Skytower, Snoopy’s Junction and Carolina Goldrusher – still in operation today. Five decades later, guests will experience the iconic border between North Carolina and South Carolina
anew when Carowinds celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023.
