We were invited to attend a (First to Flip) preview of the brand new 4D Free Spin Coaster, Tumbili, at Kings Dominion. This new attraction is the cornerstone of a brand new themed area at the park: Jungle X-pedition. Tumbili takes the place of the former The Crypt HUSS Top Spin Ride and Jungle X-pedition is a new take on the Safari Village.
Tumbil is probably the most themed 4-D coaster out there. It's the smaller model Free Spin, but no-one will notice. The structure is still impressively sized and the surrounding area is very well themed. The ride is unpredictable, which makes ever ride different. There are 4 different experiences depending on where you sit. It was pretty cold during the preview even so our ride was not too intense, but we can see this changing when it gets warmer.
Tumbili is the only brand new ride, but there is a lot else that is refurbished in Safari X-pedition. Avalanche and the Scrambler have new themes. All of the dining establishments in the area have new menus. There is also a new gift shop.
Tumbili is worth the visit alone this year, but with Intimidator 305, Anaconda and Backlot Stunt Coaster located in the new themed section, as well as that vacant Volcano plot, we can't wait to see what the future of the park / section holds.
