Sad news out of Indiana today as owner Apex Parks Group announced that it is shuttering Indiana Beach after 94 years of operation. The park was home to 3 CCI Wooden Coasters: the quirky Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain as well as the more traditional Cornball Express and Hoosier Hurricane. Indiana Beach also had a Schwarzkopf Jet Star ride and an S&S El Loco coaster. The park also had a unique walkthrough attraction named Frankenstein’s Castle and a dark ride named Den of the Lost Thieves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Beach was touted as one of the best boardwalk amusement parks while being situated nowhere near an ocean or even the Great Lakes. Several of the park’s flat rides as well as the park’s steel roller coasters have been listed for sale. Hopefully we will see them pop up in other parks. Sadly, Apex Parks has announced that they have found no new operator for the park and thus the park is definitively closing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also rumored that there may be more casualties in this latest culling by Apex Parks. Our eyes now turn towards Fantasy Island who is no longer listed on the operating park group’s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
