MASON, OH<\/strong> \u2013 Adventure will take center stage at Kings Island in 2023 when the amusement park debuts\u00a0its newest\u00a0themed\u00a0area,\u00a0Adventure Port.\u00a0Located between Coney Mall and Action Zone, the area will feature two new family rides and\u00a0enhanced\u00a0theming\u00a0for Adventure Express, the\u00a0park\u2019s\u00a0mine train\u00a0family\u00a0roller coaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional improvements include a refresh of Hank\u2019s Mexican Grill which will be renamed to Enrique\u2019s. The current Bier\u00a0Garten will be transformed into a portside Mercado, a favorite watering hole for tourists and explorers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat I love about Adventure Port is that we\u2019ve taken parts of the Adventure Express story and built upon it to create\u00a0this new themed\u00a0area,\u201d said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island. \u201cWhen guests\u00a0who have\u00a0been coming to the park for years\u00a0visit this area for the first time, the story will feel\u00a0familiar, but\u00a0it\u00a0will be told in a\u00a0whole new way.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventure Port Backstory<\/strong>
The myths of an ancient civilization, and\u00a0its mighty city carved out of stone, have lured travelers from around the globe to this bustling port\u00a0community for more than a century. Resting\u00a0in the foothills of overgrown mountains and dense\u00a0tropical terrain, Adventure Port\u00a0is a hub for explorers\u00a0searching for\u00a0an ancient civilization\u2019s forbidden temple and\u00a0mysterious wonders. If asked, the locals\u00a0will\u00a0tell tales of those who came before\u00a0and vanished.\u00a0Did they unwittingly\u00a0disturb ancient spirits\u00a0and fall victim to an age-old curse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventure Port\u00a0Rides<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Sol Spin<\/strong> (Zamperla Endeavor): This recently discovered mechanism appears to be an immense sun\u00a0disk created by an ancient\u00a0civilization. Riders\u00a0will\u00a0board\u00a0open air, suspended passenger vehicles\u00a0and experience\u00a0the sensation of flying\u00a060 feet through the air at 25\u00a0m.p.h.<\/li>
  • Cargo\u00a0Loco<\/strong> (Zamperla Tea Cup): Their methods might be a little dizzying, but the\u00a0Arrow Cargo Company will get your\u00a0goods from\u00a0Point A to Point B…eventually. Riders will board these shipping barrels where they will be able to manually\u00a0control the speed of their\u00a0spin with a\u00a0wheel in the middle of the barrel.<\/li>
  • Adventure Express<\/strong>: Embark on a treasure hunting mine train expedition\u00a0in search of a forbidden\u00a0temple. This\u00a0family coaster opened in 1991 and features a 63 ft. first drop with speeds up to 35 m.p.h. Enhancements for\u00a02023 include a relocated queue line and additional theming. The ride was repainted in advance of the 2022\u00a0season.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The project\u2019s design is being led by JRA, part of the RWS Entertainment Group with headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.\u00a0Other contractors on the project include RSL Commercial Architects,\u00a0Schaefer Engineers,\u00a0Abercrombie and Associates\u00a0and SHP Architects.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The best way to experience Adventure Port is with a\u00a0with a\u00a02023 Gold Season Pass available now at the lowest price of\u00a0the year until October 30. The Gold Pass includes\u00a0unlimited Kings Island visits\u00a0this year to Tricks and Treats Fall Fest,\u00a0Halloween Haunt and WinterFest plus every public operating day in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
